id say its a go, once we figure out all the problems people have with multiplayer. I think it would be fun too.

I havent tried gmaespy or such to play online.

I know about 4-5 years ago I tried playing a few different people and oit always failed!

Either they couldnt connect to my IP at all, or when i got to theres it would lag out or make my car bounce around!

Other than How I play now, (with 2 computers in the same house on a wireless router), I dunno if it would ever work.

But, bas 572bb said in the first post in this thread, if I had the ability, or the money, or even the knowhow to get a server JUST for the game, I would. Sadley, I have none of the above! lol

I have heard their are companies via the internet, (like teamspeak), that rent out LARGE servers to host things for online gaming. Dunno for sure though.

But I do believe thats the only sure fire way to make it possible!!

Hold that thought... I think a league with multi player is going to come sooner then you think....

Others now have multiplayer working online. So, once you and me follow the instructions to open the ports and play one successful game, I will challenge you to make a team of cars the same colOr and combat my team of cars in madmax coloUrs ...........

While I love the 60 Caddy it is a nasty bandwidth hog.

I think we have to look at a lineup of cars with less detail in the bitmaps.

I am building a 63 ford for the occassion.

I recall seeing on one of the webpages, I think it was LetsDerbyMini vans were teams were created. I thought it looked really cool.

But no, we don't have to do it that way. It looks like another guy has connected online now. I am going to see if I can test with him later in the week.

I want to get something going in April. Then maybe a few test games and then see how many people we can get to successfully connect.

6 to 8 people should be enough.

I think from a hosters point of view and for record keeping the minimum would be that the player retain the same number throughout the season.

The Challenge is On. Now that you have hosted (Thank you very much) my attempt to make a 61 Imperial. I am going to see what I have to do to make the Track Pinewood Small Multi-Player.

Your 60s Caddy against my 61 Imperial on a track that barely lets them turnaround.

Wagons are for sissies.

Seriously now..

Now that I have played over 80 Online games in about 3 weeks, I have learned alot about the pitfalls of what goes right and wrong and what can happen.

A league is a definite possibility. It seems that Once Vista and W7 owners get the game to work, it is an easier endeavour to get it to work online then XP if XP has firewall issues. Thus there has been a mini revival in online.

I need to develop a set of rules and guidelines and that may happen over the summer, so that we can have an official League come the off (Real Derby) season as 50% of the players are Derby People?driver and the other players are the kids of Derby Drivers.

I am considering doing a weekly League or bi weekly league with the following classes.

1) Compacts
2) Fullsize Stock
3) Custom Cars Open
4) Trucks
5) Teams (Fullsize)

People would have to register in advance for these specific derbies and submit their cars for "Inspection" and "distribution"

I am going to draft up a Procedure guideline for online play and league play.

Once people get the rythym of what is going on, Computer crashes can be reduced by 50%.
