In Car Views
« Thread started on: Aug 23rd, 2010, 12:25pm »

As u know the Incar view is the same on all cars.

I was wondering if there is a way to improve that, give each dash its own look and feel. Although ne recent derby cars I have seen today, the dashes are all stripped, which I never did in my time.

I was also wondering if its possible to model a different view for the front or rear? One that takes into account the shape of the car. It would be nice to see the hood or Rear Trunk.

Or Block the vision completely to the rear in the case of a preran with the Rear in the air.

Just a thought, if not an idea for the vapourware next version of this game.

yes they can be modified. I was just thinking about all the different options last night.

In each car's team.mas file there is a GCPIT.VRL and a GCPITB.VRL

I usually just ignore these files but one of these is used for the incar views. GCPIT.VRL is more detailed with a steering column and dash bar while GCPITB.VRL is missing those two things. I beleive the cars use the GCPITB.VRL because I have never seen the steering column or the dash bar. The dash just looks like its painted on a flat surface.

One thing I dislike about the incar view is that the passenger side of the incar view hangs outside of the actual car. So when someone is rubbing along the passenger side you can see the body coming quite aways through the inside of the car. Another thing is that the dash is too high to be realistic

I have rarely considered building an incar view. I never think of it because I rarely use them. The exception is when I'm racing on a track that brings my framerate way down, such as the F8 nationals. I can pick up a few FPS by switching to the incar view because my game does not have to load my car body or wheels, but instead loads the basic incar model.

The incar view 3d model looks like an interior view from the front doors forward. When going in reverse the camera flips 180 degrees and there is no rear half of the car to get in the cameras perspective which is why it is showed wide open. I think the camera is placed too far back to have a rear shot taken from the incar view. So a rear cant simply be modeled onto the existing front half of the c0ckpit models. On c0ckpit views backing up in a compact car, the camera looks like it is taken from the rear bumper.

But the interior shown the camera can be modeled however you like and you can even have a hood up in the air on a pre-ran to get in your like of site. You could also have stacks, too
